Caroline Found, Visitor Experience Manager, gave an excellent illustrated talk on RSPB Saltholme’s Washlands Project (SWAP). Since 21 January 2009, this site has been transformed from car dumping area to a fantastic wet and windy grassland haven for birds such as the Glossy Ibis. Avocet and Lapwing numbers have increased due to the anti-predator fence installed last year. Two bird hides are being refurbished now till the end of March. More works are scheduled for late 2017 which will include creating more scrapes to encourage more dragonflies.
