Not often seen in our area Daphne laureola L.
The common name of this evergreen shrub is Spurge Laurel. It is neither a spurge nor a laurel. Height of this native plant is 40-100 cm. Dark green leaves are present near the top part of the plant. It is flowering now and flowers are lime-green in colour and composed of cylindrical sepals. No petals. Orange-yellow anthers are visible. The fragrant flowers cluster in leaf-axils. Daphne laureola is sparsely distributed in South of Durham on the Magnesian Limestone woodland.
